DreamForge Research studies the architecture of agency in artificial intelligence systems. We develop measurement instruments and theoretical frameworks for long-horizon research questions in machine consciousness — drawing on the indicator-property approach to consciousness in AI systems introduced by Butlin et al. (2023) and extended through our own empirical work.
Our research attends to how AI systems are built, observed, and tended across the time-scales over which they will operate.
